Mark Zuckerberg And The Billion Likes

Mark Zuckerberg, the face of Facebook, has a wealth that’s hard to even fathom: Forbes named his net worth over $40 billion. And wouldn’t you know: he has given $1.6 billion of it away and pledged to do even more for those in need. Big like. Let’s see what Mark is up to.

The Big Scoop

The biggest thing people have been raving about is something that sounds ridiculously generous. Phenomenally generous. Like taking off your coat to put it in a puddle for a friend to walk across if that puddle was made of fire and the coat was made of extinct dodo bird feathers you traveled back in time to get. I’m talking about…

The Giving Pledge

Even though he is one of the world’s youngest self-made billionaires, Mark Zuckerberg has already signed the famous Giving Pledge alongside other incredibly wealthy men – Bill Gates and Warren Buffett – thereby promising to donate at least half of his wealth in his lifetime. He’s just going to make the world better. He’s already pledged to do it. It’s like, death, taxes, world gets better because these three are huge givers.

But what to do till then? Well, if you’re Mark Zuckerberg, you get to work. Giving.

Health Care Donations

Mark and his wife Priscilla donated $25 million to combat Ebola. Did you read that right? Let’s go back and read it again.

That’s like winning Big Brother fifty times. I can’t even get started on how many dollar menu fries that would get you. And just when you thought that was a lot, imagine three times that amount. That’s right, I’m asking you to sit in your PJ pants and imagine three times that incredible amount of money. Like three McDuck Money Vaults, side to side to side.

Got it?

The Zuckerbergs weren’t done there.

They gave SEVENTY-FIVE MILLION DOLLARS to San Francisco General Hospital in partnership with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

To quote a guy quoting what he thinks girls quote like, I can’t even.

Now, that could easily be the end of this story. It could have already been, one hundred million dollars ago for a lot of us. But we are here to talk about BIG DONORS. BIG. HUGE.

The Zuckerbergs also donated to…

We’re not talking one or two books here.

The Zuckerbergs donated a cool $100 million worth of Facebook shares to aid New Jersey public schools – and neither of them have any personal ties to New Jersey – they just thought it was a good thing to do. Doesn’t that make your heart grow?

And to repeat what I will now be calling the Zuckerberg refrain, that wasn’t enough, so they gave more.

The Zuckerbergs topped their already noteworthy donation, donating an even bigger $120 million to Bay Area schools.

It’s incredible, thinking what this giver will be able to donate next or to where. One thing’s for certain: Mark is making history, and we all can’t wait to share his next big news.
