America’s super-hot felon, Jeremy Meeks, is out of jail and all set for a new career as a model. The first time we saw Meeks was in a mugshot photo that earned him the kind of notoriety rarely afforded to those arrested on felony charges. His good looks got him the nickname as the “hot mugshot guy.”
Jeremy attracted plenty of attention back in 2014 when his mugshot appeared on the Facebook page of the Stockton, California, Police Department. As soon as his photo was released, people began leaving comments regarding his appearance.
Many had mixed feelings given the multiple arrests on the young man’s record. At the time of his most recent arrest, he was charged with multiple felonies involving weapon charges. There were reports that stated police had called Meeks “one of the most violent criminals in the Stockton area.”
However, this didn’t change the fact that many people couldn’t stop talking about his appearance. Meeks’ mugshot garnered over 80,000 likes on Facebook. Men and women raved about this man’s chiseled features, and some even suggested that he could be a model.
The modeling suggestions appear to have proven prescient.
Meeks was arrested in June of 2014 on weapons charges. A judge sentenced him to serve 27 months in prison in February of 2015. Thanks to all the attention his mugshot received, Meeks then signed with two Hollywood agents before entering prison, according to a report by the New York Daily News in February of 2015.
Meeks has been preparing for his shot at fame ever since he entered prison. Prior to his recent release, Meeks gave ABC News an interview from a Nevada prison last February.
“I’m in a place where I will be able to provide for my family and really change my life,” he said at the time. “I never thought that everyone in the world would recognize me for my looks, so I feel extremely blessed and very thankful.”
He also told ABC last year that he was working out on a regular basis and would be ready for his new career once released.
“I eat healthy,” he added. “I do a lot of push-ups, pull-ups, dips, burpees, and I stay very active.”
Meeks apparently has his eye on acting and told ABC that he would love to be on a show like “Sons of Anarchy.”
“There is a sea of opportunities waiting for him,” White Cross Management’s Jim Jordan told ABC.
Meeks also indicated that he’s missed his family.
“I was just thinking about missing my family,” he said. “I was really thinking about my son a lot at that moment, that was the only thing that was on my mind.”
Meeks expressed appreciation for his family’s involvement.
“I’ve got a lot of support my family, my friends, and from my fans – I get hundreds and hundreds of letters every month,” he said. “I’m very thankful for all the support I’ve been getting.”
Meeks is again a free man. He was released from prison on March 8, well ahead of his original 27-month sentence. The now 32-year-old recently took to his Instagram account to post a photo of Jordan and him. Meeks says in the caption that, “I want to thank my family and everybody for all your love, support, and prayers, I’m overwhelmed and grateful for what lies ahead.”
Meeks’ agent is completely on board in spite of the criminal past.
Jordan told BBC News that, “Everybody deserves a second chance. When I first saw Jeremy’s picture, the first thing that came to my mind was, ‘I needed to help this guy.”
Meeks is on his way to a new life that’s a significant departure from his criminal past. Meeks has already gotten offers from TV producers, according to The Wrap.
“We were bombarded by every news media outlet and production company out there,” Jordan said. “We have huge plans for him. A lot is about to happen. We don’t want to announce it at the moment, but we have some incredible stuff coming that will blow everyone away.”
For his part, Jordan is already talking his client up to anyone who will listen.
“He’s 6-feet-1-inches tall, which is the perfect height for a male model, and he has an incredible body,” he told Hollywoodlife.com. “I think Jeremy Meeks is already a supermodel without ever appearing in any magazines.”
In addition to his new life path, Meeks is also looking forward to being with his wife and family again.
