On Christmas Eve, a dog stared out the window of a home, like a lot of dogs across the country. The only difference is, this one had no food, no water, and was trapped in the top floor of an abandoned home. He needed a rescue. He had no idea the man he waited for was on his way.
A dog was rescued from the tragic upstairs of a beaten up, abandoned building in Detroit. The sad mixed-breed dog, its worn, thin face staring out of the window as if begging to be discovered was a picture of hopelessness. How it was saved before starving is a mystery some are calling a Christmas miracle.
On Christmas Eve, animal activist group World Animal Awareness Society got a call telling them that there was a dog spotted in an abandoned building in Detroit. Some say the dog looked like a ghost, the gaunt boxer mix wandering through the dilapidated structure with no food, no water, and no way to ask for the help it desperately needed.
That’s when help arrived.
As you can see in the clip below, the rescuers quickly nicknamed the dog “Jesus” both because of the auspicious day on which he was discovered and because of the similar style – away in not quite a manger, but definitely not a warm bed.
The crew took to the stairs and got the dog down from where it had been staring at the street. The dog was given food and water, but was too scared to touch any of it. A worker from World Animal Awareness Society who arrived on the scene estimated the dog had been alone for a week at least, but now, finally, he was in good hands, and on his way to his forever home.
